INTRO:

Hi NEON DAO, I'm JussaMouse and this is my grant proposal. Let me first give you a little background. I came to crypto about a year ago for two reasons: the tech and the art. I have spent most of my time here learning everything I can about Ethereum, learning to code, and of course collecting NFTs. Within crypto art I am most interested in the onchain narrative. Perhaps one of the most interesting questions we can ask about art is this: could this exist without the blockchain? What are the works that are not only technically but conceptually unthinkable Before Blockchain? Arguably the most prominent of such works is Terraforms by Mathcastles.

As you may know, the Terraforms contract allows holders to "paint" on their parcel (after performing the non-reversible operation of putting the parcel into Daydream mode). This is a powerful and groundbreaking statement by the creators, but I digress. There is already lots of wonderful art that holders have created with their parcels, like the bonsai tree below. Though because most holders don't dare to enter Daydream mode, the total number of these works is still relatively small.

WHAT:

The project I want to build, called Math-Art, is an online gallery for Terraforms that have been painted on. There are a few components I wish to include:

  1. some introductory material to explain the context and a glossary of terms
  2. a grid view for browsing paintings, sorted by recently painted
  3. an item view for each painting, with some attendant stats
  4. a list of all the artists addresses

Note that the contents of the gallery will be served directly from the ETH contract, and that as changes are made to the paintings, or new paintings are commited, the gallery will self update. The stretch goal is to offer a historical view of all past states, in the case of parcels that have been painted and repainted. I am told by the devs that this is possible and being worked on by others already.

WHY:

I view this grant as an opportunity to further my coding education, and broaden the scope of my evangelizing. If you choose to fund me, the grant money will go toward paying for web hosting bills. I am jussamouse [at] gmail.com if anyone wants to chat. Cheers.
